My question is if I purchase it from somewhere else like bestbuy or meritline will I need a service provider in order to use it or will I just be able to hook it up without it? Also where can I find information about how much it would cost to get one from the service provider?

Right now I’m using a pc card from verizon that belongs to my dad. My computer is equiped with wireless internet and when I stayed at my friends house I used there wireless router to go online. They went through verizon since that is there phone company. So I just need to know do I need to go through AT&T since that is our phone company or should I get another PC card but will I need a service provider.

Where can I find inexpensive internet provider-Too far away for dsl, and wireless towers?

I am located in Unioville Michigan, and I am having one heck of a time getting internet service out here. I have earthlink Dsl rated at 1.5mbs. That is not happenining. I am getting more like 300kbs because I am too far away from a central station.
I tried wirless tower services thru speednet. The signal kept dropping because I am too far away. Needless to say we dropped that service as well. I have looked at T1 lines but they are way out of my budget. Does anyone have any ideas where I can go from here. Thanks
